U.S. Senate Passes Pipeline Safety Act Re-authorization

On Thursday, August 6, 2020, The U.S. Senate passed the Pipeline Safety Act re-authorization, S. 2299 (116).

The bill titled, ‘‘protecting our Infrastructure of Pipelines and Enhancing Safety Act of 2020’’ or the ‘‘PIPES Act of 2020’’, would reauthorize PHMSA pipeline safety programs through 2023. The bill passed out of the Senate Commerce Committee last year but had stalled until Thursday’s passing in the Senate by unanimous consent.  The House has yet to pass its version of the re-authorization measure, H.R. 5120 (116).
